If it doesn’t hurt much, you tell yourself you’ll deal with it after the weekend. Then after payday. Then after that one busy week. The problem is that teeth don’t really pause while your schedule catches up.

Pain isn’t the only thing that matters

A tiny chip that only affects the outer layer isn’t always an emergency. You still want it checked soon because that rough edge can get worse every time you bite down. And once a crack spreads deeper, the repair usually gets bigger too.

But if a large piece broke off, or the tooth feels loose, or you’re getting sharp pain with hot or cold drinks, don’t wait. That kind of damage has a habit of getting more expensive.

The part people don’t notice

• A small chip with no pain. Still worth booking because little cracks don’t always stay little.

• If the tooth bleeds after the break, get it looked at as soon as you can. Waiting is a gamble that usually isn’t worth taking.

• Swelling around the gum, even if it seems minor, always gets my attention because infections don’t care about your calendar.

• Lost part of a filling instead of the tooth itself? It still leaves the area exposed, and food has an annoying way of finding that exact spot.

So how long is too long?

If the tooth broke today, call a dentist today. You don’t always need to be seen within an hour. You do need a plan. Most small breaks should be checked within a day or two. Bigger breaks deserve same day care if you can get it.

Because life gets busy, you’ll always find a reason to put it off. The crack doesn’t care. It keeps doing what cracks do, even while you’re answering emails or making dinner.

Dental Implant Services in Popular Locations

Dental Implants in Isleworth Dental Implants in Brentford Dental Implants in Ealing Dental Implants in Feltham Dental Implants in Hounslow Dental Implants in Richmond Dental Implants in Southall Dental Implants in Twickenham

A broken tooth has a funny way of convincing you it’s not a big deal.
