That healing starts with a blood clot sitting exactly where it should. Too much heat can increase blood flow around the area, and that raises the chance of fresh bleeding or irritation. It just isn’t worth pushing your luck.

Caffeine also dries some people out without them noticing. A dry mouth isn’t ideal when tissues are trying to recover. Drink enough water and you’ll feel better anyway.

What About Cold Coffee?

People ask this all the time. A cold coffee is usually less of an issue than a steaming hot mug. Even then, I wouldn’t rush into it during the first couple of days unless your dentist says you’re ready.

And skip the straw. The sucking motion creates pressure inside your mouth. That sounds small until you remember there’s a healing graft sitting there.

The Better Plan

• Plain water does the job better than anything else. Boring, yes. Your mouth appreciates it.

• If you really want something warm, wait until it’s only mildly warm, and only after your dentist says the early healing phase has passed.

• Skip anything packed with sugar. It sticks around longer than you’d like.

• One missed coffee won’t ruin your week. A healing setback feels much longer.

When Can You Drink Coffee Again?

Most dentists are happy for patients to return to coffee after the first few days if healing looks normal. Some people need longer, especially if the graft was larger or healing is slower. Follow the advice you were given, even if someone online says they drank an espresso the next morning and felt fine. People get away with all sorts of things. That doesn’t make them smart.

Dental Implant Services in Popular Locations

Dental Implants in Isleworth Dental Implants in Brentford Dental Implants in Ealing Dental Implants in Feltham Dental Implants in Hounslow Dental Implants in Richmond Dental Implants in Southall Dental Implants in Twickenham

Why Coffee Becomes a Problem Early On Right after a bone graft, your mouth is building the foundation for new bone.
