The jawbone still needs to bond with the implant through a process called osseointegration, and that can take several months. The first week is really the early part of the journey.

The Gum May Feel Fine Before the Implant Is Stable

This is the bit people often miss. Feeling normal doesn’t mean everything underneath has finished healing. You might be eating normally again and barely noticing the implant, while the bone is still doing the slow work that gives the implant its stability.

So, Can You Have One Beer?

If you’ve reached day seven with no bleeding, increasing swelling or unusual pain, and your dentist hasn’t told you to avoid alcohol, a single beer may be acceptable.

When Waiting Makes More Sense

The same goes if you’re taking medication that shouldn’t be mixed with alcohol. And if you had a bone graft along with the implant, your dentist may give you stricter instructions because the procedure and recovery are more involved.

Don’t Let One Beer Become the Problem

The bigger concern isn’t usually the existence of one beer. It’s what happens around it. A late night can mean less attention to oral hygiene. Several drinks can leave you dehydrated, and you may end up eating something your healing mouth isn’t ready for.

Dental Implant Services in Popular Locations

Dental Implants in Isleworth Dental Implants in Brentford Dental Implants in Ealing Dental Implants in Feltham Dental Implants in Hounslow Dental Implants in Richmond Dental Implants in Southall Dental Implants in Twickenham

Your mouth may look mostly healed after seven days, but the implant itself is nowhere near finished healing.
