Craving chocolate after All-on-4 implant surgery is pretty normal. One week feels like a long time when you are watching everyone else enjoy their snacks. The good news is that a small amount of chocolate is usually fine at this stage if your healing is going smoothly.

The first week after All-on-4 implants is still part of the early healing phase. Your gums are adjusting, and the area around the implants is becoming more stable. You don’t want food habits that create unnecessary stress.

• A small melted piece is usually easier on your mouth because you don’t have to work through a tough bite.

• Skip the crunchy versions for now, especially the ones with bits hiding inside because those tiny pieces have a way of finding sensitive spots.

• After eating, rinse your mouth gently. No aggressive swishing. The goal is keeping things clean without annoying the healing tissue.

• Hard chocolate bars are a bad idea at this point because they invite heavy chewing, even if you tell yourself you’ll be careful.

• Sticky chocolate treats are another one I’d leave alone for a little longer. They cling around teeth and make cleaning more annoying.

Yes, you can usually eat a little chocolate after one week of All-on-4 implants if your dentist has not given you special restrictions. Choose something soft and let it melt instead of treating your mouth like everything is fully healed.

The trick is not making chocolate a daily challenge for your implants. Enjoy the moment, then move on. Healing takes time, even when you already feel much better.
