That process takes time. A month sounds long when you’re counting the days. The graft itself is still settling underneath the gum.

A soft banana doesn’t usually cause trouble because you can mash it easily with your tongue or chew gently on the opposite side of your mouth. The trick is not turning it into a test of how you can chew.

What If the Area Still Feels Sensitive?

Some sensitivity after a month isn’t automatically a problem. Healing isn’t identical for everyone and the location of the graft matters too.

If chewing near the graft feels uncomfortable don’t push through it just because you’ve reached the one-month mark. Eat the banana slowly. Keep it away from the healing side.

A Few Things to Watch For

• Very ripe and soft is the choice especially if the area still feels a little sore.

• Cold banana from the fridge can feel uncomfortable if your mouth is still sensitive so room temperature is often easier.

• Don’t press food onto the graft site even if it feels mostly healed by now.

• Sticky banana mixed with foods can leave residue around the teeth so gentle cleaning afterward makes sense.

When Should You Ask Your Dentist?

If you have increasing pain after eating swelling that has returned, bleeding or an unpleasant taste coming from the graft area stop treating it like post-treatment sensitivity. Get your dentist to check it.

If your dentist has specifically told you to avoid certain foods for longer follow that advice. They know where your graft was placed and how it looked during your follow-up.

Dental Implant Services in Popular Locations

Dental Implants in Isleworth Dental Implants in Brentford Dental Implants in Ealing Dental Implants in Feltham Dental Implants in Hounslow Dental Implants in Richmond Dental Implants in Southall Dental Implants in Twickenham

Why Banana Works After a Bone Graft The main concern after a bone graft is protecting the healing area while new bone grows.
