That’s exactly what you want during this stage. You can slice it into small pieces and chew on the side away from the implant if your dentist has told you to avoid pressure around the surgical area.

Choose a Ripe Banana

Go for a banana that’s properly ripe and soft. An underripe banana is firmer and takes more chewing, which isn’t worth the trouble while your implant is still settling.

You could mash it with a fork if chewing feels uncomfortable. Banana mashed until smooth is almost effortless to eat.

Avoid biting directly into a whole banana if the implant is near the front of your mouth. Cut it first. Small change, but it makes eating feel much less awkward.

How Should You Eat Banana After Implant Surgery?

• Soft and fully ripe is the better choice, especially if the surgical area still feels tender.

• Small slices work nicely because you’re less likely to bite down hard without thinking.

• If chewing near the implant feels sore, use the opposite side of your mouth instead.

• Banana mashed into a smooth texture is an easy option on days when your jaw feels tired.

• Skip very cold banana if temperature makes the area uncomfortable. There’s no prize for forcing it.

What About Banana Smoothies?

A banana smoothie can work too, but there’s one catch. Don’t drink it through a straw unless your dentist has specifically said it’s fine. The suction from a straw can disturb healing after oral surgery, particularly during the earlier stage.

A spoon or normal glass is the safer bet.

When Should You Still Be Careful?

One week doesn’t mean the implant is completely healed. The bone around the implant needs much longer to bond with it, so the inside of your mouth is still doing important work even when you feel almost normal.

Because of that, I wouldn’t use the one-week mark as an excuse to return immediately to hard or crunchy foods. Banana is fine. A bag of hard chips beside it is a different story.

Dental Implant Services in Popular Locations

Dental Implants in Isleworth Dental Implants in Brentford Dental Implants in Ealing Dental Implants in Feltham Dental Implants in Hounslow Dental Implants in Richmond Dental Implants in Southall Dental Implants in Twickenham

Why Banana Works Well After One Week A ripe banana is soft and doesn’t need much chewing.
