A crown can look perfectly normal. Still sit slightly too high. You bite down. Crown takes the first hit every time.

At first crown may just feel odd. Then you start avoiding that side without thinking about it. Your jaw may feel tired too. The fix is often simple. The problem needs to be noticed during the fitting rather than ignored afterward.

Rushing the Trial Fit

The trial stage is not wasted time. Your dentist needs to check how the crown sits and how it feels before everything is treated as finished.

A rushed appointment makes it easier to overlook a problem especially if you are eager to get out of the chair. Honestly I would rather spend a few minutes checking the bite than spend another appointment fixing a crown that never felt right.

Ignoring the Tooth Underneath

A crown covers a tooth. It does not magically make an unhealthy tooth healthy. If decay is still present or the tooth has not been properly prepared, placing a crown over it does not solve the underlying issue.

The gum needs attention too. Inflamed tissue can make it harder to get a fit around the crown, which can leave a spot that is difficult to keep clean.

Forgetting the Crown Margin

The margin is where the crown meets the tooth near the gumline. It needs to be smooth and close enough to protect the tooth without irritating the surrounding gum.

A poor margin can create a place where plaque collects. Then brushing that area becomes frustrating because the crown feels like it always catches something.

Choosing Looks Over Function

The crown needs to fit your bite and allow you to clean around it. If crown is beautiful but constantly catches food or feels strange when you chew you will care about the appearance for five minutes.

What Patients Often Miss After the Appointment

• A crown that feels too high especially when you close your teeth together. Don’t just wait for your mouth to adapt.

• A rough edge near the gum which’s worth showing your dentist rather than trying to ignore while brushing.

• Sensitivity that keeps hanging. Some sensitivity after fitting is expected,. Persistent or worsening discomfort deserves a check.

• Food getting trapped around the same spot. That little annoyance can point to an contact problem.

• A crown that feels loose. That is one I would report promptly even if there is no pain yet.

Good crown fitting is mostly about details that’re not very exciting. The bite has to work. The edge needs to sit. The tooth underneath has to be ready.. Crown needs to feel ordinary once you are using it.

Dental Implant Services in Popular Locations

Dental Implants in Isleworth Dental Implants in Brentford Dental Implants in Ealing Dental Implants in Feltham Dental Implants in Hounslow Dental Implants in Richmond Dental Implants in Southall Dental Implants in Twickenham

The Fit Looks Fine, The Bite Is Off This is one of the mistakes I take seriously.
