What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are surgically inserted parts, generally made of titanium, which serve as artificially made tooth roots and therefore become one with your jawbone, hence making it a sturdy and reliable support for your new teeth in the form of crowns, bridges, or dentures which is a pretty close, to, nature solution in terms of both the look and the feel of the missing teeth while at the same time being beneficial to the bones in the jaw and enhancing the chewing and speaking functions of the mouth.
How Dental implants work
Implant (The Root): A biologically compatible screw (usually titanium) is implanted by surgery into the jawbone, thus the implant will be the missing tooth’s root.
Osseointegration: The implant merges with the bone, thus giving firm support.
Abutment: The implant is fitted with a connector piece.
Crown/Prosthesis (The Tooth): An artificial tooth (crown), bridge, or denture made specifically for the patient is fixed to the abutment, thus completing the replacement.
Key benefits of Dental implants
Stability: It is more natural than traditional dentures or bridges, thus it prevents slipping or shifting, which some people may not even notice.
Bone Health: The implant helps the jawbone to remain strong and healthy, thus the bone will not get thinner as it usually does after tooth loss.
Preserves Adjacent Teeth: They do not cause any damage to the healthy neighbors as in the case of bridges where the adjacent teeth get ground down.
Durability: A Solution that can last a very long time and which requires care similar to that of natural teeth.
