Cosmetic Dental Crowns Warning Signs: What Your Smile Is Trying to Tell You

Pain That Doesn’t Settle Down

Some tenderness after getting a crown isn’t surprising. Your tooth and the surrounding tissue have just been through a procedure.. Pain that sticks around gets worse or shows up whenever you bite deserves attention.

Pay Attention to Your Bite

• A twinge when you bite down especially if it keeps happening after the first few days is worth a dental check.

• Cold sensitivity that lingers of fading is another clue, particularly when the discomfort feels deep inside the tooth.

Changes You Can See

Cosmetic crowns are made to look natural obvious changes shouldn’t be ignored. Maybe the crown has started looking darker near the gumline. Maybe the shape suddenly seems off when you catch your smile in the mirror.

If the crown feels rough or you notice a small crack don’t wait for it to become a bigger problem. A tiny defect can turn into a repair.

The Gumline Matters Too

Redness around one crown is easy to blame on brushing hard. Sometimes that’s true.. Swelling, bleeding or a persistent bad taste around the crown can point to a problem with the fit or the tissue underneath it.

A Crown That Feels Loose

This one is hard to miss. You may notice movement while eating or the crown may feel different when you touch it with your tongue.

Don’t keep testing it. A loose crown needs a dentist to look at it because the underlying tooth still needs protection.

When the Crown Looks Wrong

• A visible gap near the gumline is especially worth checking since food can collect there and make cleaning

• One tooth suddenly looking longer than its neighbor can make your smile feel oddly uneven even if nobody else notices it away.

And here’s my opinion: don’t accept discomfort just because someone tells you that you’ll eventually stop noticing it. A good crown should feel natural once your mouth has adjusted.
