Depending on how many teeth you need to replace and your bone levels, options include single implants to replace individual missing teeth, implant-retained dentures (overdentures) that clip onto 2–4 implants for far greater stability than conventional dentures, and fixed full arch solutions (All-on-4/All-on-6) that replace all teeth with a permanent bridge.

Implant-retained overdentures

An implant-retained overdenture uses 2–4 implants with ball or bar attachments that your existing denture clips onto. The denture still comes out for cleaning, but is securely retained during the day with no movement. This is often the most cost-effective upgrade from conventional dentures and can frequently use a modified version of your existing denture.

Bone loss and implant suitability

Long-term denture wearing can cause significant bone resorption in the jaw. In many cases, sufficient bone remains for implants — a CBCT scan will confirm. Where bone loss is advanced, bone grafting may be required first, or All-on-4 positioning (which requires less bone) may be the better option.
