The tooth and surrounding bone are assessed clinically and on X-ray to determine whether extraction is necessary and whether a simple or surgical approach is required.
The area is thoroughly numbed. You will feel pressure during extraction but no pain. Additional anaesthetic is given if needed throughout the procedure.
For simple extractions the tooth is carefully loosened and removed. For surgical extractions — impacted wisdom teeth or broken roots — a small incision may be made and the tooth removed in sections.
A gauze pack is placed to promote clotting. Full written aftercare instructions are provided. Most patients recover within a few days. Replacement options are discussed at follow-up.
