Same-day crowns use chairside CAD/CAM technology to design, mill and fit a permanent ceramic crown in a single appointment — eliminating the need for a temporary crown and a second visit. The tooth is prepared, scanned digitally, the crown is milled in the practice, and fitted the same day.
After the tooth is prepared, a digital scanner captures a 3D impression of the tooth — no traditional impression material required. The crown design is created digitally and sent to an in-practice milling unit that carves the crown from a ceramic block in approximately 15–20 minutes. The crown is then checked, adjusted and cemented at the same appointment.
